This wall sculpture made entirely of metal depicts the lotus leaf, one of the most unusual plant species in the earth's ecosystem. For example: did you know that the lotus leaf is a symbol of purity in oriental culture? Of course, because the lotus leaf never gets dirty. But the lotus leaf grows in marshes and swamps, where stagnant water and mud could reduce the plant to a brown mush, but it always comes out perfectly clean. Its secret lies in the nano molecules of wax that cover the entire plant, creating such a high surface tension around the leaf that it makes any water droplets and all impurities slide away.
This special leaf is the subject of this composition. There are eleven of them : three gold colour ones, four light blue ones, two silver colour ones and two black ones. But it should be added that each leaf is streaked with gold, which gives a sense of opulence to the whole artwork. All the leaves, made of metal foil, are soldered together, a process that was carried out entirely by hand; in fact, a certificate of craftsmanship proving the workmanship is provided with this artwork.
