There are dresses and dresses and what is represented in this painting surely catches the eye. It is a large red dress worn by a woman with a delicate figure. The elegance of her silhouette contrasts with the abundance of the dress she wears, fluffy and all-encompassing to the point it almost covers half of this square canvas. The dress was painted with large strokes of red alternated only with a few touches of purple and white. On the bottom of the dress there is a dark grey pattern that recalls the rest of the light grey background.
The other peculiarity is that yellow and orange winged butterflies rest on the dress. Doubts remain about whether they are real or just a pattern on the bright dress, but the doubt is cast away since one of them is flying right in front of the woman's face. The woman's figure is stylised : of her face we can only see an oval, three strokes of black for her hair, but all of this is enough to perceive her youthfulness and beauty. In addition to these elements there is the background with its inserts: embossed words and numbers. The meaning is unclear, thus act as an intriguing mystery.
