What does a panther represent? According to the mythology of the South American peoples, the natives of the continent, the panther represented the embodiment of a powerful god who was able to rule perfectly, and better than all other mammals, the surrounding environment. For this reason the black panther was considered as a superior being by the natives: its roar was thunder, its black coat was the night and its whole existence was a symbol of the cyclical nature of life, death and rebirth.
Given that the figure of the panther is permeated by a very strong symbolism that makes it in itself one of the most fascinating animals, its shape is definitely charming. This work tried to replicate its shape and to make it emerge despite the rough rendering of the facets. As if this panther were just carved out of a piece of wood or, given the metallised anthracite colour, were chiselled out of rock while also having a spark of life within.
This sculpture is 31 cm high, 99 cm long and 18 cm thick. Surely its length will make its presence stand out in any room you might decide to place it in. We remind that it was made entirely by hand according to artisan techniques.
