The origin of Tiffany lamps is linked to the work of the famous American artist and jeweller Luis Comfort Tiffany (1848 - 1933) who, in his early twenties, founded a glass company and developed innovative processes for the production of opalescent glass. At the turn of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the unique style of work of Tiffany and his team of designers was exported from America to the Old World, meeting the tastes of the Art Nouveau artistic movement, known in Italy as the Liberty style.
Over the decades, the charm of these lamps with lampshades created using coloured opalescent glass remained unchanged, so much so that a processing technique was transformed into a style that is known and appreciated throughout the world, and which is still offered today in the most different styles by the best international artisans.
The creation of the first Tiffany lamp dates back to 1895 and was the result of the skilful handiwork of artisans. The designer was Clara Driscoll, who in 2007 was recognised as the creator of the precious leaded glass lamps produced by Tiffany Studios. The popularity of Tiffany lamps increased after the World Columbian Fair, held in Chicago in 1893, where Tiffany exhibited its lamps. The exhibition was a success and the lamps were noticed by some museum directors in Berlin who decided to purchase them to display them in the Museum of Decorative Arts, the first museum in Europe to own Tiffany lamps. Tiffany glasses became popular throughout Europe when Tiffany entrusted Siegfried Bing with the production of those glasses. With his help, Tiffany was able to enter the European market and sell its work to people all over Europe.
Elegant, colourful and almost irresistibly attractive, Tiffany lamps are true works of art with .a very high value. The value of these furniture accessories does not only derive from the choice of the best raw materials, but also from the long artisan process required to make them.
Just as in the past, the ADM Design team of artists and artisans still manually assembles all the ceiling lamps, floor lamps, ceiling ceiling lamps, wall lamps and table lamps shown in this section of the catalogue.
Creating a Tiffany-style lamp is a task that requires not only great skill and mastering of processing techniques , but also considerable patience and attention. Starting with the initial design draft, the ADM team carries out the delicate cutting of the glass to obtain the individual pieces that make-up the lampshade. Then, using the same technique developed over a century ago by Tiffany, our artisans assemble the various coloured glass elements with painstaking precision, welding them together.
The quality of the ADM creations inspired by Tiffany and Liberty styles is linked to the exclusive use of perfectly finished opalescent glasses to create the lampshades. Careful selection of materials and the use of original processing techniques make it possible to create unique works of art, characterised by an extraordinary bright effect that is clearly better than that of industrially produced lampshades.
The value of Tiffany ADM lamps is tangible and proved by the particular shades of colour that can be released simply by turning them on. The certificate of craftsmanship supplied with each lamp proves the value and the complex work involved in its creation.
Our line of Tiffany-style lamps includes models of all types and sizes to meet all your furnishing needs.
The catalogue offers various categories of lamps, including:The creations proposed are inspired by the themes of Liberty, using the motifs that made the original Tiffany lamps famous, including the floral motif and the one based on the drawing of the dragonfly body (dragonfly).
